My Commitment to Ottawa County

Throughout my legal career, I have had the privilege of serving the community around me in a way that few others have. Since graduating law school, I have been a prosecutor, first with the Ottawa County Prosecutor’s Office and now on behalf of the City of Holland. Since moving into private practice, I have also defended the accused. I have zealously advocated on behalf of victims and defendants alike.

Through that experience, I can say without hesitation that my only motivation is the pursuit of truth and justice, regardless of the circumstances. My passion is standing up for those who cannot stand up for themselves and protecting those in desperate need. It is because of this passion and unbiased pursuit of justice that I am running for Probate Judge. Unlike any other, the Probate Court is one of rehabilitation. It provides the unique opportunity to help and serve those most in need, which I have had the pleasure of doing throughout my career.

As both a prosecutor and defense attorney, I have referred those struggling with addiction to Recovery Court, to give them the support they need to conquer addiction. I have represented many individuals subject to mental commitment proceedings, ensuring that they receive the care necessary to allow them to thrive in society. I have prosecuted and defended juveniles accused of crime, crafting resolutions which provide them with the tools necessary to lead successful lives as adults. This is all in addition to maintaining a thriving probate litigation practice.

My experience, perspective, and commitment to service make me uniquely tailored for this position. I am excited for the opportunity to serve as Ottawa County’s next Probate Judge.”
